Certified Industrial Hygienist - Short Term

Medcor Safety, a subsidiary of Medcor, is a Safety Services company serving the Construction and General Industry. The Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling potential health hazards in the workplace. The role will focus on ensuring compliance with safety regulations and improving the overall well-being of employees by managing risks related to chemicals, noise, ventilation, biological hazards, and ergonomics. The Industrial Hygienist will work to protect worker health by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards.

• Project Location: Ozark, AR
• Anticipated Start Date: March 3, 2025
• Anticipated Duration: 5-6 months
• Anticipated Hours/Week: 40-50 hours (Tuesday - Saturday)
• Project Type: Powerplant
• Per Diem: Available for qualified applicants

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Monitor, assess, and resolve health and safety issues in the work environment.
• Identify and evaluate chemical and biological dangers such as air quality, ergonomic challenges, or dangerous sound levels.
• Implement applicable occupational health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Proactively identify potential workplace hazards through site inspections, process analysis, and reviewing safety data sheets (SDS).
• Recommend precautions and corrective actions that should be taken in response to identified hazards.
• Collect air, surface, and biological samples to measure employee exposure levels to hazardous substances.
• Analyze data to ensure that the levels of exposure are within regulatory limits.
• Stay current on industry best practices, safety codes and regulations and maintain thorough knowledge of federal and state
• OSHA regulations and web sites.
• Develop and implement control strategies to minimize exposure levels, such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Prepare detailed reports on findings, recommendations, and corrective actions taken.
• Cultivate, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at customer worksite, which allows for the development of trusting, collaborative and effective working relationships.
• Develop emergency response procedures for hazardous material spills, chemical exposures, and other safety incidents.
• Safely operate Medcor or customer vehicle between multiple customer worksites and abide by Medcor's safety regulations including wearing safety equipment where needed.
• Adhere to assigned routes and time schedules, abide by all transportation laws, maintain a safe driving record and perform inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operations and sufficient fuel levels for continued vehicle use.
• Additional tasks or duties as required.
• Potential for heavy travel to assigned customer site(s).

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Required
• 5+ Years Industrial Hygiene Experience Required
• Power Plant Experience Preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic word processing and generate spreadsheets as necessary. Also, access and use the Internet and E-mail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be required to stand, bend, squat, sit demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see. On occasion, may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
